Deep Cut Origins is a fan made prequel series to the events of Splatoon 3, created by me, TerminatorBuns! This setting is focused on the adventures of Frye and Shiver as Grade 8 middle school delinquents, before the formation of Deep Cut.
Middle school stories is an excellent time to explore the nature of their relationship, they met around that time and proceeded to grow and change together. I want to explore some wildly different personalities and designs for my middle school stories to emphasize how much they’ve changed each other over the years. They’re the same characters we know and love, but who might they have been before they met?
Big Man features too, of course, but they meet him later that year. Over time the cast has expanded to include all of their immediate family members as well, each with their own personalities and secrets.
Frye Onaga
The legendary delinquent feared by hooligans across the Splatlands was said to have fought high schoolers in grade school. But, rumor has it that she hasn’t been the ruthless terror she once was since entering middle school. What could have caused this change?

The once polite and well mannered Shiver seems to have made a sudden and surprising turn into deliquency in middle school. Has she fallen in with some bad influences? And is she… trying a little bit too hard?
